The Owner/ Manager

Johanna has passionately cared for horses for over 25 years. She learned to ride at an early age and took regular lessons at Brentwood Stables. She loved competing in showjumping and learning to jump cross-county. As she grew older, she started to manage and oversee the care of her family’s horses as well as re-starting/fine-tuning her horse and some local horses. During high school she worked at a summer kid’s camp to manage the care and training of 40+ horses as well as guiding trail rides and giving riding lessons to beginners. After high school, she attended Miracle Mountain Ranch SOD to learn more about herd management, training reining horses, and retraining “problem’’ horses. While she was there, she also gained experience handling and caring for stallions, mares in foal, foals, donkeys, and mules. Johanna later returned to the kid’s summer camp to manage their horse program and also helped care for horses at Bennett’s Equestrian while she realized her dream of eventing. In 2021 Johanna and her husband, Benjamin, bought a farm in Alfred Station which is now the home of Hamilton Hill Stables. At the stables, Johanna has continued her education in order to give the horses the most species appropriate environment and diet (grass management, hay, and grain). She also specializes in caring for horses that are hard to catch and are considered difficult to handle.
